About the project

The Object as a Pulsating Body of the City

Urban park, Trenčín

We do not work with time linearly.
The countdown here is not merely a function—it becomes a space. A materialized tension between “not yet” and “almost.” The object communicates through shifting light, sound, and image—like a living organism that breathes, blinks, and waits.

The object does not stand as a passive board displaying numbers. Instead, it draws the viewer into the space of waiting. It is a physical embodiment of an in-between state. Every pulse of light, every vibration of sound signals anticipation, hinting at what is about to come.

Reflection of the City

The rear of the structure is clad in mirrors that are not meant to reflect themselves. They serve the city—capturing fragments of urban life: fleeting gestures, façades, horizons. The mirror is not decoration, but a medium through which the city observes itself. Temporary compositions emerge—moments that will never repeat.

Object in the Landscape

Mirroring also functions as a strategy of disappearance. From certain angles, the object dissolves. Dominance gives way to humility. The structure adapts to the landscape, respects the park as a living framework, and returns its image back to it. The sculpture responds to its surroundings rather than imposing itself upon them.

Culture as Growth

The base of the object is formed by a concrete ring filled with soil and planted with perennials. This detail is not decorative—it is a manifesto. Culture here is not an embellishment of the city, but its foundation. Plants require time to take root, just as the values cultivated through culture do. This base asserts that culture is not seasonal ornamentation, but a process—something that grows, embeds itself, and gradually creates new space for people, relationships, and events.

Symbiosis

The structure reflects the park’s flora.
All lighting elements are designed with respect for local fauna, using specific light wavelengths that are gentle on the park’s nocturnal biodiversity. They do not disrupt the natural cycles of insects, birds, or small animals. The object lives, yet does not disturb. It illuminates without intrusion. It enters the space while remaining in dialogue with nature.
